Smith Creek

Abe went out to a ranch a week ago to help with the harvest and baling of some hay. He needed to finish picking up and we decided to join him in his adventure. It definitely turned into an adventure. One hour and forty five minutes into our drive I mentioned something about the camper keys, which he had previously taken out, and I let out a sigh as he realized the keys were in his truck, and not in our tahoe. We said a little prayer that we would be able to find a window loose. We pulled up, it was dark, it was late. We walk up to the camper and there is a window cracked about 0.5 cm. We were able to pop the screen out, pull it open, and drop Sawyer in. We quickly made beds and put the kids to sleep.

The next morning was beautiful! Crew was up with the sun to ride with Abe and Sawyer slept forever. Once everyone was awake we took turns eating our cereal with the one utensil left in the camper: a plastic fork.  The boys and I then packed up a lunch and headed to the reservoir about 20 minutes away. I then unloaded the kayaks and we set off on a little adventure. After fighting the wind we came back and played on the shore followed by a short walk. We were startled by some low flying and very loud jets. It was pretty sweet.

After we were tired, dirty, and worn out enough we went back to check on Abe. He had had a rough day with not much going his way.  On the way home we stopped and picked up the fog light that a jack rabbit had taken out on our car on the drive in.

We also practiced our tongue rolling. Abe and I both can roll our tongues, but so far our boys cannot. It's comical to watch!

What a great summer adventure!

Picnics, Ants, and Adventure

We packed up a lunch and went to the farm by the river to enjoy it. The ants soon overtook our lunch and were enjoying it more than us. The boys then wanted to show their cousins all of the fun places they have explored with their dad. It was fun! When we got home we talked the cousins into a short swim in the pool before they had to go and do family things on the other side.

Lake Tahoe

All of the sisters-in-law decided to pack up the kids and go to Lake Tahoe for the day. Ultimately the desire to get in the car and go was a little difficult, but it was well worth it!

This half inflated raft ended up being quite the hit. We paddled it out to some very large rocks that poke out of the water, and took turns jumping into the lake.

After cooling off we enjoyed some lunch. Of course we sent some pictures to Abe as well. We missed him! (phone pics sent below)
