Happy Birthday: Papa Ernie

Ernie turned 63 and we were fortune enough to celebrate it with Drew and Becky's family! Becky stopped for 2 nights on her way home from Canada. Crew was very excited and loved playing with his cousins.

"Aunt Lindsey will you push me" is said over and over and over. . . .

Abe gave Sawyer a jalapeno cheeto. It was hot.

Quiet Moments

I was busy doing the dishes when I realized I hadn't seen nor heard the boys in at least 20 minutes. Upon this realization I quickly went to find them. This is what I stumbled upon. I paused to breath in it and then quickly ran to grab my camera. I am so glad that my boys love one another. And I am very happy that my recently well made bed was the perfect spot for them to snuggle up and enjoy their time together.

Later Crew and I were outside while Sawyer slept. Crew wanted me to take a picture of his blue eye to put in his room. It tickles me to see the love and joy bursting from his pure eyes.

Camping Twin Lakes: Day 3

While picking up camp the boys rode bikes around. Crew is working on pushing off and starting on his own. He can pedal all day long on flat cement but the bumpy terrain adds a bit more of a challenge. He did love riding his balance bike all around the night before (hour plus) and pretending it was a motorcycle; sound affects included. Sawyer does rather well for a one year old on the balance bike! He will put all of his weight on the seat as he pushes around.

Family portrait? Ha!

After checking out of our campsite we decided to get a little kayaking in. Sawyer is a fan. Crew has to be bribed. I think this summer he got a little freaked out on the water and he hasn't been the same about it since.

Sawyer was having fun wading in the water until he tripped!
We quickly put him in with Abe and he stopped crying.
Crew and I hung out on shore until he warmed up to the idea of going in the kayak.

Sawyer hanging out of the boat to touch the water.
All four of us got in and paddled around the lake an enjoyed a little picnic out on the water. The boys were then tired and ready to go home.

It was a fabulous camping trip! I loved that we got rained on, enjoyed the loud thunder, had smoke free skies, had no cell service, got dirty, made memories, and made our boys happy!

Camping Twin Lakes: Day 2

After waking up (a little too early) to Crew asking Abe, "Hey Dad, what ya' doing?" from the top of the bunk, we had a delicious breakfast. The kids and Abe then headed to the camp managers to inquire about hikes while I cleaned up and packed lunch. I thought they got back and went to look out my opened door when this deer (plus too babies) was about to poke it's nose in. I had an internal freak out and as I was trying to shut the door the deer kept coming closer. (I had visions on this deer trampling me!!) In my fight or flight mode I smashed my finger horribly in the inside hinge and quickly snapped a picture out the window before rolling around in agony on my bed. I hit some nerve that went clear up into my armpit and I felt like a wimp with my nerve on fire!

We then went on a beautiful hike. It was marked as moderate - strenuous but it wasn't too bad. Sawyer did a little bit of it before going on Abe's back and Crew did a good amount of it before getting on my back; in packs of course. There were several switchbacks that would bring us to the falls (it looked more like a falling river with some fall like features) and eventually to the main waterfall that fell down a smooth rock face. It was gorgeous. A little further it plateaued to a small creek, swamp, meadow area. We ate lunch, played around, and waited out a little bit of rain.

We hiked back to the base of that rocky mountain in the back.
We came back to camp and played with some toys, threw lots of rocks in the water, dug in the dirt, and prepared our dinner. We had fun cooking our tinfoil dinner and corn on the coals of the fire.

Throwing rocks down by the river

Watch out, he has a wild wind up!
"Mom, I have really big muscles" and then proceeds to move a huge rock our of the water and then asks me to throw it. It was heavy!
