Trunk or Treat and Halloween

I was happy to volunteer and take a game into Crew's class for a small halloween party. It was fun seeing all of the kids dressed up. Crew went as a farmer of course.

Later we had our trunk or treat and Sawyer dressed up like Abe and Crew a farmer. Sawyer had on Abe's hat and glasses, had a phone in his pocket, and a little bit of scruff.  Eventually the scruff made him embarrassed and he shed a few tears before I wiped it off. Abe was super busy and didn't even make it to the party.

Fall Break Day 5: Lego Land and the Beach

This day was planned last because it really was the peak of our trip. It did not disappoint. The park had little to no lines and it was such a nice day! We rode and saw almost everything but still could have spent a bit more time there. I can see how you would need 2-3 days here during the busy season.

The boys were in lego heaven! We even got them to ride almost everything. Force was used to get them onto the easiest roller coaster and they ended up loving it. We went to the next level, and Sawyer rode it with us twice. Crew once. Then we hit up the biggest roller coaster, and Sawyer rode it, Crew did not. I would have to say I would probably pass on the third roller coaster because it had the flat corners clear up high, that I hate, and Sawyer started saying he was going to die. Yeah, we definitely won the best parents award on that one!

During our lunch break we stopped at the lego store and spent all of our money that had been burning holes in the boys' pockets. Including Abe's. It was a lot of fun!  I am glad that we did the store earlier in the day because later it was nuts, even with a low number of people at the park.

The boys loved the ninjago rides and we went on those a couple times.

After the park closed we went to the beach. Because the sun was getting low we decided to go without changing into our suits. Eventually we were all sandy, wet, and smiling.

Again we grabbed dinner on the way back to our hotel, showered, and went to bed exhausted with huge smiles on our faces.

Fall Break Day 4: Mormon Battalion, USS Midway, San Diego Temple

We packed up and checked out of our cute studio and headed to The Mormon Battalion Museum. I don't know what I was expecting, but the tour was fantastic!  I loved our Chinese speaking tour guide that used a western twang. It was the best. After the tour was complete, we were allowed to pan for gold and then go up a couple flights to look out over the city. It was well done and a good start to the day.

Next up we went to the USS Midway. We were on there for 5 hours. By the time we went through everything my shoulders and neck hurt from bending over to go in and out of everything. I cannot even imagine living on a ship for months at a time and having to deal with a stiff neck. The vets that assisted or led mini tours did such a wonderful job and had amazing stories and experiences to share. I felt honored to be able to get to know a small bit of these men that have served our country.
The boys also earned their wings. I felt like I should have earned mine as well. It was a ton of work! I think for a tween or young teenager it would have been a much easier task. But when you have to read every question, listen to the audio, explain it, and help them formulate and write an answer, it takes a bit of time.

The ship was followed by a boat tour of the south harbor. It was nice to put our feet up and listen to all the fun facts and see the views. The boys also got some yummy treats from Abe.

Last we went to the San Diego LDS temple. It is huge and gorgeous. The boys were so tired and hungry though. Sawyer shows it with his red, tear filled eyes. Soon after we made it to a yummy place for dinner, just to have Abe soda spill all over all of us. That one was my fault. We were definitely ready to crash into bed for our big day ahead of us!

I really enjoyed this whole day. Every stop was a good experience.
