San Fransisco: Day 3

After an adventurous day yesterday, our boys got some good sleep this morning! The perks of us all sharing a studio is being able to see their angelic faces as they sleep!
We enjoyed a city walk to the church, watched a fabulous primary program, and I was able to listen to Lauren's lesson. Crew later informed me that he started crying during class, but after they gave him candy he stopped. . . Sawyer loved all of the new toys and the large room he was able to play in.
The parking lot for church was awesome. I wish I would have snapped a picture. They had all the slots filled, and then cars park in the middle, blocking in all the other cars. So if that one person stays chatting at church too long, then there are a lot of people waiting for them.

Next up we had lunch and Nate and Lauren pulled a Mary Poppins. They were pulling out tons of camping totes and it's remarkable how much they actually are able to fit into their apartment. After getting packed up we were off to enjoy the great outdoors.

Welcome to Urban camping!

The fun began with our exclusive access to the camp area. In order to take in the views we made sure to creep down the side of the hill. We then parked in parking lot and had to wheel barrow all of our equipment and gear to our site. It may have been the furthest from the cars, but it was worth the trek! Amazing views!

The kids instantly began ducking in and out of the trees, and playing on the hill next to us.

Tagg instantly had all of us falling in love with him! But I am pretty sure Crew adores him! He wanted to play with Tagg and snuggle up when possible.

I love tent camping! Abe had to basically twist my arm into getting a camper. I loved that we had to use a tent! It was so fun!!!

Tagg and I joined the boys in some hide and go seek. Tagg enjoyed it until hunger struck. Then it was just the two boys and I. The next two pictures I snapped as I surprised the boys.

Watching the barges go under the Golden Gate Bridge was pretty spectacular. I think everyone in my family marveled in the engineering of it!

The boys played, played, ate, and played some more until it was time to crash in the tent! This is where they played and giggled some more until they fell asleep. (This is also when the Racoons came out with no fear and ready to scavenge anything we didn't keep an eye on or put in the food box.) When we checked on them Sawyer was upside down in his bed, wrapped up in his favorite blanket.

San Fransisco

Friday we headed to San Fransisco to visit Nate, Lauren, and Tagg. The drive was quick and fun taking in all of the views. We arrived around 9pm, pulled up to the curb to quickly unload, Lauren took the boys up to the apartment, and Abe went to park the car.
Lauren's sister was kind enough to let us stay in her studio apartment while they were gone. It worked out perfectly having Nate and Lauren on the floor above us, and we all had enough space to stretch. After a quick chat, some late night donuts, and winding down, it was time to put the kids to bed

Saturday morning Nate flew in, Lauren fed us some delicious breakfast, and we drove past a few iconic landmarks. This included the Fullhouse opening credit homes, and Lombard street. We stayed in the car and snagged pictures with our phones as we went.

Next stop was back at the apartment to meet up with Nate. Lauren and I packed lunches and then we headed out for the second part of our touristy adventure.
It took us several tries, but we finally got a trolley to pick us up! Crew was a little nervous on it and Sawyer was very excited. It was oddly reverse from how I thought it might be.

Next up we had a picnic near Pier 39. We chatted about the area, watched the homeless, and ate our lunch. After a quick uphill walk we made it to Ghirardelli for some delicious, overpriced Dryers ice cream, covered in Ghirardelli chocolate. Abe picked a fabulous treat for us all to share. Crew was a little upset that we kept telling him to slow down! Sawyer is the master of savoring and did very well at taking his fair share of bites. I made sure to shovel some in as well! With the four of us eating it, it was licked up pretty fast.

The original plan was to take the bus home. But apparently my vote held a lot of weight when I said I wanted to walk home and take in more of the city. I love the hills and the constant humming of the city. The architecture was so amazing. I loved to see the buildings that were well maintained to keep artistic beauty of the city alive!

For dinner Abe treated us all to some local San Francisco pizza. It was tasty and a great hit for everyone.

Nate was pretty tired and our kids needed to be well rested for church, so we decided to call it quites a little before 10 pm.

Rainbow Trail

I was invited to join the home school group outing up at Lake Tahoe. To add to the fun, I had my friend and her kids join me in our car. We both were running way behind and we did not get out the door at the projected time of departure. . . and hour later we were all loaded, ready, and heading to Tahoe. Lot of laughs, games, and chatting, made the trip fun and quick.
The ultimate purpose in the trip was to see the salmon spawning. Much like the time I went before, we did not see the highest flow of fish. But it was still fun to go around rainbow trail and enjoy a picnic. The kids ate, played pine cone soccer, and an array of pretend play. Marie and I enjoyed the outdoors and chatting some more.
Our kids were pretty beat and we decided to not go to the other location with the group. Instead we headed home and enjoyed the drive.
It was so fun to have friends with us on another adventure.

Brothers

These two boys are the best of friends, most days. They play very well together and are very creative. On this particular morning I was doing household chores as the boys quietly played on the sofa. It melted my heart.
I also have to laugh because their outfits are typical. Sawyer will wear his pajamas until going somewhere or outside takes priority. Crew will immediately change in the mornings when he gets up.
