The morning began with some "go fish" while I made birthday pancakes with whipped cream and sprinkles. Then we were off to surprise Crew with a day of adventure. (After getting a few work things quickly out of the way for Abe)
First we stopped at the Boot Barn and picked out cowboy hats to match Abe. (This is when Sawyer bawled and bawled about wanting the red construction hat. He wore it as long as he could and then cried as he told it goodbye and how he would wear it next time Dad came to buy work boots)
Next we headed to Scheels to take a spin on the ferris wheel and a few trips on the escalator. Abe paired up with Sawyer, and I was with Crew. When the operator found out it was Crew's birthday he let Crew keep his token as a souvenir. Crew was very nervous when he was initially getting on and intently listened to all of the instructions. Soon we were off and enjoying the ride together. I personally do not like ferris wheels, but it was fun to experience a small one with Crew. At one point I was trying to get a picture of us stopped at the top. It caused the seat to rock slightly and Crew yelled out, "No rocking the seat!"
We then ate at Crew's favorite restaurant: BJ's. It was very delicious and he got a free pizookie. At this point we were tuckered out and happy; time to head home. We had dessert and presents with Carmen and Ernie over at our house. Crew got a lot of awesome gifts, but the highlight was the crane truck he has been saving up for and dreaming about. That Dad of his is one amazing and soft hearted guy!!
I love Crew and all of the joy he has brought me in the 5 years he has been on this earth. He is very wise and thoughtful in all that he does. His work ethic is amazing and his inner strength and will, will help him continuously in this life!
