Girls Camp

Oh girls camp! It has been an exhausting and exciting process. I had some cute helpers, lots of ideas, many sleepless nights, and an excited group of girls.  Our journey started out rough when we were stuck on the highway, stopped, for two hours. A journey that should have only taken three hours, took six. Once we got there it was total chaos at the camp, and we had a late start to the evening. By the next day we were caught up and having a blast.
The whole week was great for building testimonies and friendships. We had a wonderful group of girls! At the end of the week I knew more about the girls and their personalities. I hope I get to be camp director again!

this was sent to us by Jordan's Mom

This is all that was left.

I went on the third year hike to Chuck's Rock. It was beautiful and a lot of fun.

In order to swim there were quite a few rules to follow. If one wanted to swim out to the dock, without a life jacket, they had to pass a swim test. Due to the perks of being a leader I was able to swim out to the girls, even though I had missed the testing time.  We laughed, pushed, and played any game we could think of while we were out on the dock. I was able to meet girls and form friendships that I may have missed out on if I had not joined in.

We made these cute jars. They had stars, hearts, flowers, lots of girls things, for us to stick on the jar and then spray paint to make it look etched. I cut up some circles and made a dump truck. It is driving to the left, but everyone, except Crew, thought it was a tractor.
Fourth years coming back into camp!!

Skit night. We mimicked a certain video and demonstrated how animals eat. The girls rocked it.

Obstacle course day brought some adventure. We had some girls tip over in the canoe and it took a lot of team work to get everyone back to shore. I am glad I was out there to help, but I was a little nervous about my camera!

Testimony night was very successful. Our girls were so tired, but every single girl in our ward shared her testimony. I loved it! We followed with another loud night of games and laughter. Our bishop and stake president even joined in.

Packing up went very smoothly. All of our girls worked really well together and we made it hope much faster. Everyone received someone else's angel to pray for the year. I love this!

On Sunday I was able to share my thoughts from camp. I was trying to figure out how to put into a couple minutes a whole week of experiences. Instead I shared a little snip it about each girls and what I learned.

Aisha is  a fireball of energy and a ray of sunshine. She shared some of her beautiful Tongan culture and always had a smile on her face. I loved her grace and soft voice. Even when it seemed she had been talking non stop for awhile with no apparent break.

Gabriella she may generally be quiet but she is full of personality.  Before I even needed something done, she was there to ask if she could help. Sometimes I had to think several steps ahead just to utilize her desire to serve. She is so sweet and friendly to anyone that would take the time to chat with her. And even when she was feeling horrible on the first day, she never complained

Alaska she is a fantastic big sister. She has a love and care for others that takes over any of her own personal desires. Her personality is quirky and fun. Getting others to laugh is easy for her.

Gabby is maturing from the small, talkative primary girl I once knew. Her perspective on life is fun and always happy to make new friends.

Savannah has a big heart for such a small person. She is always willing to help as soon as she is asked and enjoys taking care of others.

Sarah is a born leader. Her tender heart is able to open up to any that need someone to watch out for them. She teaches with the Light of Christ radiating from  her. Her tears flow freely when she is moved and her laughter is contagious for all.

Maryann is a spunky teen that can see the precise path she wants to take. She knows this church is true and lives her life following the footsteps of Christ and helping other do the same.

Jordan is a very sweet and kind young women. Her testimony runs deep and strong. Her knowledge of what is good and what can bring joy to her life will serve her well. She too has the ability to be a quiet, but profound leader.

Hannah is a delight. She has a zest for life and a smile to go with it. Her playful personality and humor can keep you on your toes. Her faith is anchored in Christ and it shows in the way she lives her life.

Emma is soft spoken and happy. She is a good leader that can engage and help direct those that are younger and looking for an example of who they may want to be like. Emma has a love for Christ.

Cady has a strong personality with a tender heart. She is an amazing helper that can see a need and take care of it before she is even asked.

Sara knows how to have fun and engage the girls on a personal level. She is also, and I  quote, "Annoyingly good at using a compass."

Julie is an incredible mother. It shows in the character of not only herself, but her two daughters. Julie is a happy, selfless, and extraordinary woman  that is serving God and others every day.

Kona is a friend, a sister to my spirit, and my right arm.  Kona has an incredible ability to connect with the young women and others. She works hard and laughs harder. Working with her was a pleasure. I will never forget our nights of laughter as we fell into our beds, exhausted, happy, and fist bumping our encouragement and support to one another on another successful day.
