Christmas

I could hardly sleep Christmas Eve. I love giving people gifts and Christmas couldn't come fast enough! We planned on 8:00 am for the Grandparents to come over. It worked out perfect. The boys woke up about 10 minutes before, I made them oatmeal and they ate in our room with Abe.
Crew loved the sheet covering the entrance into our living room. This is a tradition that Abe had as a kid and remembered fondly. We we finally had Carmen and Ernie, and my parents, it was time to call the kids in. (Sawyer tried to pop in a few times before we said he could and we would have to usher him back.

Again, Sawyer did not disappoint in the excitement! Crew initially was into it and checked out the cookies, milk, and carrots plate to see if they had been eaten. Indeed they had, and Santa even left a note.
Crew then got a little pouty about the hats and had a little bit of envy on who got what hat. Eventually he worked out his inner turmoil, and got to action! The kids received one gift from us, a gift in their stocking from Santa, (a few odds and end from us in or near their stocking, and one gift from each grandparent. This is something that we had asked to happen. We wanted Christmas to not be an overwhelming amount of stuff. The boys loved everything and immediately got busy playing.

When the gift giving was done, it was time for breakfast. Abe had been perfecting his waffles for the last few months in preparation for this day. He did not disappoint!

Next up,Sister Anne Trent did a google hangout with us. Since breakfast was still happening, my parents went into our spare room to speak with her. I enjoyed my waffles at the table while listening, and muting my end, on my ipad. She is very happy and is a wonderful missionary!

The gift highlights this year:
Diamond earrings from Abe to me
Electric toothbrush from me to Abe (not nearly as exciting)
Bruder Toys for our boys
Food storage from Grandma and Grandpa Trent
Work clothes for our boys from grandma and Grandpa Trent
Burial plots to Abe and I from Carmen and Ernie
John Deere pajamas and toys from Grandma and Grandpa Schank for the boys

We gave:
Swiss knifes
Tool box (and Abe working on cleaning and organizing the farm shop)
A griddle
Pajamas
Stocking goodies

I loved this day and I loved having both set of parents join us. Carmen and Ernie have joined us several times, but this was my parents first. I am grateful for the sacrifice they made to come!!
